Abstract

672,201. Locking followers for filing papers. KINGSBURY COMPONENTS, Ltd., and PREECE, J. Jan. 25, 1950 [Jan. 26, 1949], No. 21501/51. Divided out of 672,132, [Group XIV]. Class 146 (i). A filing cabinet drawer 10 for index cards is provided with a flat longitudinal guide strip 14 on the floor 12, the borders of the strip being spaced from the side margins of the floor 12, and an adjustable follower support 15 for the index cards, to slide along the strip 14, has at each side a guide flange 16 turned down and under the border of the strip 14 and a downwardly extending lug 18 behind the flange 16 to rest on the side margin of the floor 12 to lock the follower when pressure is applied to the front thereof, the lugs 18 being released by tilting the follower 15 forwardly to move the follower along the strip. As shown the follower is of pressed sheet metal, the flanges 16 and lugs 18 being in one with the body of the follower, the resilience of the metal allowing tilting forwardly. Alternatively the flanges 16 may engage the strip 14 with sufficient play to allow tilting or the flanges may be hinged or resiliently connected to the upstanding part of the follower. The drawer 10 and box construction for use therewith are described in Specification 672,132, [Group XIV].
