Abstract

b -Dimethylaminoethyl-benzhydryl ether is obtained by the action of benzhydrol on a melt of a hydrohalide of b -dimethylaminoethanol at 180-185 DEG C. An example is given in which the hydrochloride of the amine is formed, heated to 180-185 DEG C., and benzhydrol added, the product being isolated by alkali. Specification 585,994 is referred to.
