Abstract

679,404. Resilient mountings. METALASTIK, Ltd., and HIRST. A. J. Jan. 17, 1951 [May 15, 1950], No. 12032/50. Class 108 (iii) A resilient mounting comprises rigid cylindrical outer and inner members 15, 16, to which is bonded a rubber bush 14, so that the inner member 16 is eccentric with respect to the outer member 15, the radial thickness of the rubber bush being greater on the compression side, and the thinner part of the bush being wholly or partially cored out (at 17). The invention is described as applied to the rear support of the vehicle power-unit mounting described in Specification 662.688. The inner member 16 is mounted with spacing washers 26 on a bolt 24 carried by a bracket 25 bolted at 27 (with the interposition of shims 29), to the chassis frame 28. A hole 30 gives access to the bolt 27. The member 15 is carried in a tubular housing 19 which is welded to a stirrup 20 clamped to a rearward extension 21 of the power unit. The bush 14 is cored out at 17 to leave an intermediate web 18. The outer member 15 may alternatively be rigid with the frame, and the member 16 with the power unit. Figs. 4. 6 (not shown).
