Abstract
679,129. Rubber upholstery. TALALAY, J. A. Sept. 2, 1949. [May 31, 1949] No. 22768/49. Class 52 (iv). [Also in Group V] A seat cushion, mattress or the like made from latex foam has inwardly-extending cavities 23 made by the use of pins 12 each of which has a gradually-increasing cross-section along the whole or a major portion of the distance from the apex to the base, the surface of the major portion being curved and the length of a recess corresponding to the height of the curved part thereof being greater than its width at the base, i.e. the cavities are higher than they are broad. Fig. 9 shows cavities of paraboloidal form, and Fig. 10 cavities of semiellipsoidal form. Fig. 4 shows a modified form of pin comprising superposed frusta of cones having straight-sided walls, the slopes of successive frusta decreasing from the base to the apex. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, describes also a pin 12c, Fig. 4 (Cancelled), having a semi-ellipsoidal shape which, as shown, is broader than it is long. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
