Abstract
678,108. Hand trucks. GIRL GUIDES ASSOCIATION. Oct. 31, 1950 [March 14, 1950], No. 6338/50. Class 108(i) U-shaped side members of channel section metal are provided at their ends with multi-way coupling bosses for accommodating removable rods 9, Fig. 1, shafts 10, and guard bars 11, and flat strips 12 are secured to one end of the so formed frames 7, 8, by bolts &c. The bars 11 may be welded or brazed to the coupling bosses or fixed into them by set screws. Each frame 7, 8, comprises two cross connected side members and is provided with a further cross member or members 14 of channel section. The member 14 is adjustable along the frame and serves to accommodate in its channel the upper end of a wheel supporting fork 15, Fig. 2. Each member 14 is clamped by a screw and nut 18 and plate 17 to its frame, and apertures are provided along its length to receive a shoulder 19 of the fork 15. A spigot 20 on the shoulder is adapted to engage the plate 17. The frames may be positioned end to end or one on top of the other, or they may be separated and provided each with a wheel to form two independent narrow carts. The frames may also be used as sledges, Fig. 5, or covered with canvas as in Fig. 4 for use as stretchers.
