Abstract
677,074. Gas filters. AIR CONTROL INSTALLATIONS, Ltd., CLIFFORD, G. E., and RYAN, J. Aug. 25, 1950 [May 26, 1949], No. 14162/49. Class 8 (ii) In a rotating drum gas filter wherein deposited dirt is removed by a suction head 44, Fig. 3, for subjecting a restricted area of the filter sleeve along the length of the drum to a reduced pressure on the higher pressure side and a pressure head 43 on the lower pressure side, and having means, e.g. a suction duct 50 for conducting away dirt thereby removed, the head on the outside of the drum, e.g. the suction head 44 is carried by a mounting having a roller 46, Fig. 5, bearing on said drum and spaces the head 44 a required distance from the sleeve. As shown dust-laden air passes from the exterior to the interior of the drum which comprises a wire mesh sleeve-supporting cylinder 45 mounted on spiders 30, 31 and rotated by a motor 41 through gearing 40, 38, 37. The mounting for the suction head roller 46 comprises a lever 47 pivoted at a pm 49 to brackets 55 and urged towards the drum 9 by a spring 48. Dust withdrawn traverses a flexible hose 50 to an auxiliary filter bag. The pressure head 44 is carried by and communicates with hollow arms 42 connected to a hollow shaft 24 which in turn connected to the delivery duct 28 of a fan.
