Abstract
669,929. Hydraulic lifting machines. PEARSON, D. A. Oct. 11, 1950 [July 28, 1949], No. 19867/49. Class 69 (ii). [Also in Group XXXII] In a hydraulic lifting mechanism a valve g allowing. the free flow of fluid from the ram at normal speeds but controlling the speed of descent has an auxiliary control disc q with a small aperture r normally held away from the valve by spring pressure j which comes into play to reduce the fluid flow past the valve when the load or pressure on the returning fluid is such that the spring resistance to the closing movement of the disc is overcome. The valve g is similar to that described in Specification 432,146, [Group XXXII]. The disc q may be hinged to the valve as shown in Fig. 1 or it may be quite free of the valve and normally held above it by a coil spring. More than one auxiliary disc may be employed, the graduation of the apertures and the strength of the springs being chosen to suit requirements.
