665,161. Spectacle frames. HADLEY CO., Ltd., and ROSSER, G. D. April 5, 1950 [April 8, 1949], No. 9659/49. Class 97 (i). A spectacle frame side-piece made of a plastic reinforced by a wire core attached at its end to a hinge member is characterized in that the hinge member consists of a metal stamping formed with two holes and bent into U-shape to bring the holes into register so that the arms of the U form two hinge barrels, the end of the stamping so bent being united to the end of the core and encased in the plastic. As shown, the side-piece consists of a reinforcing wire 2 which is butt-welded to the end 11 of a metal stamping 10 that has been bent into U-shape to provide hinge lugs 3. The wire and the base of the stamping are encased in plastic which is preferably transparent.
