[Class 43] In a strap fastening comprising an open frame 11, Fig. 3, and a slide 13 mounted on its rear face, the slide having a transverse slot 15 between one side 18 of which and the end bar 17 of the frame a strap end is gripped, the other side 20 of the slot being laterally spaced away from the inner edge of said end bar so that tension on the strap exerts a pull on the slide. the gripping side 18 of the slot is bent, e.g. at an angle of 45 degrees, towards the front of the frame so that the strap is engaged by a transverse edge of this bent side, the other end of the strap being gripped between a movable gripper member, e.g. a pivoted clip 26, and a plate portion 23 associated with the frame. The slide 13 moves in guides formed by bending round the sides of the frame 11 which is formed at one end of the main member 10, the part 23 being formed at the other end. The front edge 20 of the slot 15 is bent in the opposite direction to the edge 18 at about 45 degrees to the plane of the slide and projects in the operative position slightly beyond the end bar 17. In a modification, Fig. 8, the main member 10 is replaced by two parts, a part 29, similar to the part 23 of the previous construction, being connected by integral sleeves 30 to the end bar 31 of a wire frame, the sides 34 of which are encircled by sleeves 33 formed on opposite sides and at one end of a slide 32 ; at the other end the slide is wider than the opening in the frame and is provided with a transverse slot 37, the rear edge 39 of which is bent at about 45 degrees so that the sides of the strap 38 will be gripped between it and the curved end bar 40 of the frame, while the centre portion of the strap continues to exert a pull on the slide where it engages the central part of the front edge 41 of the slot.
