Abstract

657,312. Valve amplifying circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. May 20, 1948, No. 13741. [Class 40 (vi)] A two-stage wide-band amplifier which is linear and of low output impedance comprises two pairs of valves V1, V2 and V3, V4, respectively, each pair being in series connection across the H.T. supply. The signal is applied to the grid of the valve V2, which feeds the other valve V1 in the first pair via a coupling condenser K1 connected to a point on a resistance RI between the valves; a tap on the resistance R1 provides bias for the valve VI. A further point between the valves-as shown, the cathode of valve V1-is coupled to the grid of valve V3 of the second pair. The anode of this valve is coupled to the grid of the remaining valve V4 via a condenser K3, the output of the amplifier being taken from a point between the valves V3, V4. Overall feed-back may be applied by connection of a resistance between the output terminal and the grid of the valve V2, Fig. 3 (not shown); alternatively a cathodefollower stage may precede the valve V2, Fig. 2 (not shown), having its anode fed from the anode of the valve V4.
