Abstract

656,236. Tumbler switches. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. July 18, 1947, No. 19301. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1940. [Class 38(v)] A multi-way switch has a box-shaped casing 15 divided into compartments by partitions 20, 21, each compartment containing two fixed contacts in the form of rivets 22 in the form shown in Fig. 1 and a third contact 28 of trough shape secured by a rivet 27. The sides of the trough 28 arecut away to receive a rocking contactor 37.. The three fixed contacts 22, 28 are provided with terminal screws 24 on the outer surface of the bottom of the case. All the contactors in the various compartments are actuated simultaneously by spring-pressed plungers 36 housed in recesses in a block 35 which is moved by a dolly 33 mounted on a pin 32x. The pin 32x rests in depressions formed in a cover 31 and is held in position by a top plate 38. The contactors. 37 may be formed with depressions at their centres as shown in Fig. 1 so that they have a stable central " off " position, or each contactor may have a small central upward projection to cause the contactor to snap from one extreme position to the other. The top of the switch may be made for onehole fixing or as shown in Fig. 1, two screw holes may be provided in the plate 38. Fig. 12 shows a modification in which only the pivot contact 54 and a single rivet contact 26 are provided in each compartment. A spring 57 may be looped round the dolly 33 so that the switch is opened when the dolly is released. Specification 653,509 is referred to.
