Abstract

640,703. Fire-proof containers. GOVAN, J. Nov. 25, 1946, No. 34880. [Class 44] [Also in Group XIII] A fire-proof receptacle has walls comprising inner and outer sheets. 1 and 3 of metal and slabs of a fire-resistant material, e.g., gypsum, filling the space between the sheets, which material contains water of crystallization. The inner sheet 1 is perforated at 9 to permit vapour arising on heating the material to pass into the container and to surround and protect the contents. The walls are formed with overlapping joints 7 removably secured by screws 8. The walls may be filled by a pair of superimposed sheets of gypsum each being not less than half an inch thick.
