Abstract
647,918. Hinges. TRIGGS, W. W. (Trig Corporation). Dec. 4, 1947, No. 32065. [Class 65(ii)] [Also in Group XVII] Co-operating hinge portions are integrally moulded with the cover and body of a plastic receptacle and a wire member is attached to both the cover and body adjacent the hinge to retain the hinge portions in position. Either the body 10 or cover 11 may be provided with a knuckle 14 to fit in a groove 12 formed in the cover or body. A U-shaped wire 16 is positioned so that it engages beneath a lug 22 on the body 10 and its inturned end 18 pivots in sockets 20 formed in the cover 11. The sockets may be eccentrically disposed in relation to the knuckle 14 so that the wire acts to resiliently hold the cover open or closed. An outer flange may be provided around the body portion in which case the wire extends through an aperture between the flange and the body wall. In a modified arrangement the body wall is recessed to accommodate the wire which is retained in position by a pin extending above its lower part. Alternatively. barbs may be formed on the wire which engage the inside of the recess to hold the wire in position. Instead of the ends 18 of the wire being inturned they may extend outwardly to engage sockets formed in the cover.
