Abstract

632,021. Manure distributers, &c. ATKINSON, R. L. Jan. 12, 1948, No. 937. [Class 6(i)] A manure distributer comprises a motor lorry 10, the body 11 of which is provided with an endless band conveyer 19 to move manure rearwardly to rotary-disc distributers 47, 48, and the machine is characterized in that the power drive to the band includes a double pawl and ratchet 40, 41, 42 arranged so that the pawls drive the ratchet alternatively. The conveyer passes over forward and rear rollers 20, 21 and intermediate rollers 22. The roller 21 is driven from a power take-off shaft 16 through gearing 26 and 25 and a crank 28. The crank is connected to a three-armed lever 31,32,33 pivoted at 30. The arms 32 and 33 are connected to levers 36 and 39 pivoted on the roller axle 37 and carrying pawls 40, 41. As the threearmed lever oscillates, each pawl drives the ratchet during the return stroke of the other. The pawls are arranged to engage several ratchet teeth simultaneously. To assist in supporting the manure, inclined partitions 23 are mounted within the body 11. The spreading discs 47, 48 are driven in opposite directions by gearing 55, 55a, from a shaft 53 driven by a belt 51 from the shaft 16. The manure is fed through an adjustable gate and falls on to the discs through a shoot 44.
