Abstract

631,905. Vehicle spring suspensions. DUNCAN INDUSTRIES (ENGINEERS), Ltd. and RENWICK, W. S. Aug. 7, 1947, No. 21493. [Class 108 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXI] In a front wheel drive motor vehicle (see Group XXXI), the wheel assembly is articulated to the chassis by a link 15 at D and the link 11 at C and is sprung by an arrangement comprising a rod 18, Figs. 1 and 2, pivoted at its lower end to the suspension link 11 on a pin 20 having a rubber sleeve 19, Fig 3, and slidable at its upper end in the inner member of a ball-joint 21 in a housing fixed to the chassis, the rod carrying a series of rubber washers 22 bonded to metal washers 23. A helical compression spring may be used in lieu of the composite rubber and metal washers.
