[Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv)] [Also in Groups XIV, XV and XXVIII] A unit for use in forming various structures comprises tubular members 1 rigidly and permanently secured together to provide an open framework in the form of a hollow cute, at least four parallel tubular members being open-ended to receive rods for connecting various units together. One side member may be omitted to allow units to be nested together. The members may be welded together or connected by brackets. Secondary units consisting of rectangular frames or straight lengths of tubes may be connected to the units. The connecting rods Fig. 6, have corresponding parts 6a, 6b to allow them to be joined end to end. The projecting ends of the rods 6 may be received in collars 7, Fig. 7, each having a clamping screw 7b. A spring may be interposed between the collar 7 and the adjacent unit. The lower ends of the rods 6 may each be received in a foot member 9 having a clamping screw 9c. The members 9 may have rubber tyres 9d. A collar element 10, Fig. 13, may be used for connecting together adjacent rods 6. The rods 6 may extend right through the tubular members or they may be locked in the tubular member by means of spring clips. Panels of rigid or flexible material, e.g. metal, wood, plastics or canvas may be attached to the units to form floors, walls or ceilings, and by attaching the panels by means of hinges, doors or windows may be formed. Telescopic struts may be provided to support the structures. According to the Provisional Specification parts of the tubular members may be made of solid bars and the conrecting rods may be fixed by pins passing through aligned holes in the members and rods.
