Abstract
637,911. Furniture frames. LYONS, E. D., ISRAEL, L., and GARDNER, Ltd., J. S. April 27, 1948, No. 11480. [Class 52 (ii)] Tip-up seats constructed for nesting and of the kind described in Specifications 344,159 and 493,316 comprise metal side frames each of which consist of a subframe 11, 12, 13, 14 rigidly connected to a subframe 15, 17 18. 19. The members 11 of the two subframes are rigidly connected together by a back frame 27, 28 having a squab 30. A bearing piece integral with each member 12 is secured to each member 18 by bolts 25 and is provided with a pivot for the tip-up seat. The seat is provided with shoes 31 having apertures for the pivots of the seat which is provided with a squab 23 the rear portions of the shoes 31 having rubber buffers 36 to position the seats in service position. The subframes 11 ... 14 are arranged on the outside of the subframes 15 ... 19 and adjacent chairs may be positioned in use by means of lateral projections 39 on the bottom member engaging sockets in the bottom member of the adjacent chair. In addition the members 15 of adjacent chairs are provided with a common detachable arm rest comprising a squab 16 and a base plate 43 having hooks 42 engaging lateral projections 41 on the members 15 and being secured at the rear.
