Abstract

635,256. Ventilators. STEWART, Sir F. C. Sept. 22, 1947, No. 25677. [Class 137] [Also in Group XXIX] A hinged valve 2 in a ventilating duct 1 passing through a fireproof bulkhead 9 and adapted to close in the event of fire, is biased towards its closed position but is held open by a fusible link 6 engaging at one end a hook 8 on the duct and at the other end an arm 5 fixed to a spindle on which the valve is mounted. The valve is biased by a helical spring and by its offset arrangement on the spindle. As shown, two valves, one on either side of the bulkhead, are provided. Instead of the fusible link, a sealed glass container filled with a volatile spirit so that the container fractures on rise of temperature may be employed.
