Abstract
A wrinkle drying coating composition comprises an uncooked conjugated double-bonded oil and a synthetic resin selected from the group consisting of acrylic ester resin, polyvinyl acetate resin, melamine formaldehyde resin and urea-formaldehyde resin in a water phase, e.g. in the form of an aqueous emulsion. Preferred proportions are from 10 to 50 parts of resin per 100 parts of oil. From 40 to 80 per cent of a pigment paste which may comprise two-thirds pigment and one-third conjugated double-bonded oil may be present. Solvents such as naphtha, toluol, xylol or mixtures thereof may also be present. Specified oils are tung, oiticica, dehydrated castor (blown or unblown), blown linseed and alkali isomerized oils prepared from peanut and cottonseed oils. A disclosed composition comprises 40 parts of resin emulsion, 100 parts of oil, 60 parts of pigment paste and 10 parts of naphtha. The composition may be prepared by mixing the oil with the resin emulsion and adding sufficient solvent to produce the required viscosity.
