Abstract

634,908. Arc welding electrode holders. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 18, 1947, No. 33456. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1946. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] A gas arc torch comprises a head 5 carrying a nozzle body 4 with tapered end 6 in which is detachably secured a welding nozzle tip 8 insulated from the body by a liner 7 and washer 9. The electrode 1 is held by hollow jaw members 11 mounted on tubes 12 through which cooling water is circulated by pipes 15, 16. Current is supplied to the electrode through the pipes 15, 16. Inert gas is supplied to the torch by a pipe 26. In a modification a coiled spring urges the electrode jaws to the closed position. Specification 559,409 is referred to.
