Abstract
634,894. Folding cots. HIGGS, G. W. Oct. 27, 1947, No. 28694. [Class 52 (ii)] [Also in Group VI] An oxygen enclosure, intended primarily for use by infants when flying, comprises stiffened base and walls of gas-proof material, the sides and ends having their top edges turned in to form a continuous inturned rim. In the collapsable form described an outer rectangular container has its two longer sides only stiffened by wire frames 15 and an inner fitting, comprising a padded base and ends, stiffened by frames 16, 17 respectively, is inserted to make the assembly rigid. The flaps 21 are fastened together by press fasteners 22, which may also hold a transparent cover 23. Oxygen is supplied through a tube 38 and a sight feed indicator 37. The arrangement may be fastened in an aircraft by a shackle 27, which is rigidly connected to a second shackle 32 inside the enclosure and which is intended to secure a fireproof blanket 30 which is wrapped around the infant, thus affording maximum protection in the event of a crash. In the construction described in the Provisional Specification, a single-walled structure is provided having stiffened base and sides, which are made rigid when required by rectangular flaps, each hinged along a vertical edge to one side wall.
