Abstract
628,700. Centrifugal and mixing machines. CATERING WHOLESALERS, Ltd., HAYNES, C. R. G., KILLINGBECK, C. G. J., and THIEBAUT, R. E. L. Oct. 1, 1947, Nos. 26513/47 and 6037/48. [Classes 23 and 86] In a machine, for separating liquids from solids or agitating liquids, a drive shaft 18 is connected at the lower end to an electric motor 21 by spur and pinion gears 19, 20 and may carry at its upper end 18a either a rotatable perforated basket 23, Fig. 2, or a stationary container 52, Fig. 5, having paddles 62 driven by the shaft. A transverse conical diaphragm 13 carries electric heating elements 34, 35, and a shaft bearing housing 15 having bearings 16, 17. The upper end of the shaft is squared and co-operates with a socket 25 in the basket. Extracted liquid is discharged into a removable tray 29. Nuts 14 on the diaphragm are engaged by lugs 55 on the container to prevent rotation thereof. The squared end of the drive shaft co-operates with a socketed spindle 59 rotatable in the container and carrying a tube 60 on which are mounted paddle discs 62.
