Abstract

628,099. Hair curling appliances. APEX INSTRUMENTS, Ltd., and STOKES, E. MARTIN-. Dec. 6, 1947, No. 32217. [Class 131] In a hair curler for permanent waving the unidirectional device at one end of the mandrel 1 comprises a rotatable, inset member 5 having a recess 8 containing a roller 9 which jams against the wall of the bore containing the inset member when rotation in the undesired direction is attempted. The walls of the recess are preferably at right angles to each other in planes parallel to but not coincident with the diameters of the inset member. In a modification there are a number of recesses and rollers.
