Abstract

626,226. Profile grinding. ANGERBY, E. A., CARLSSON, S. G., and BLOM, S. G. Nov. 11, 1946, No. 33500. [Class 60] [Also in Group XXII] A grinding machine comprises a pantograph 11, 12, 13, 14, which is secured to a dual-slide tool or work supporting device 2, 3 so as to move the tool or the work in a path congruous to the path of movement of a feeler along a template, and a parallelogram guiding-device 22, 23 interposed between the feeler and the slide. The pantograph is pivotally mounted on a stationary lug 19 and carries the feeler in a chuck 15 rotatably mounted on an extension of the link 13. One end of the parallelogram device 22, 23 is connected to a collar 20 on the chuck 15 and the other end is connected to a collar 21 rigidly secured to the slide 2. The latter is formed with two parallel longitudinal recesses (not shown) which accommodate bars having grooves of V-section to form, with corresponding grooves in bars attached to the slide 3, a race for balls on which the slide is longitudinally displaceable. The slide 3 is similarly mounted and transversely displaceable on a plate 10. One bar in each mounting is adapted to be transversely displaced with respect to the direction of the ball race by means of a wedge and screw mechanism so that wear may be taken up. The template is secured by screws 16, 17 to a plate 18. Specification 626,225 is referred to.
