Abstract

611,961. Ventilating ships. SPANNER, E. F. May 14, 1946, No. 14584. [Class 137] In a ventilating system comprising supply and exhaust fans at opposite ends of each main transverse sub-division of a ship including one or more between-deck spaces and a deck hold below, balanced valves V provide for cutting off both fans from the outer air and re-circulating the air in the sub-division. Small trunks S communicating with a main trunk T through a transverse branch B serve the several decks, and pockets P and drains D collect and remove condensed water caught by inclined grids &c. The balanced valves which may rotate about a horizontal or vertical axis may be operated by automatic thermo- or remote hand controls.
