[Class 80 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXV and XXXIV] A lubricating device for Bowden or like control cables comprises a detachable spring clip fitted liquid-tight on the cable, and having a nipple registering with a hole in the cover of the cable. The nipple may be formed on a separate saddle-piece, Fig. 13, having a clip, Fig. 12, to secure it on the cable. A non- return valve of ball-and-spring form may be fitted. As shown in Fig. 6, the nipple 37 may be formed of hard rubber bonded to the clip 38 and act as a self-closing valve. Fig. 14 shows the nipple-carrying band 16 clamped on the Bowden cable by a pinch screw 18 and bars 19 and formed with extensions 17 serving as an auxiliary clip 17 for securing it on to any object such as a bicycle frame. The device may be constructed for fitting to a plurality of cables, Fig. 15. As shown in Fig. 5, the limbs 12, 13 of the clip 11 may be formed with sockets engaged by a pin 14. Figs. 7 and 8 show a clip 31 having a rectangular raised portion 32 enclosing an oiling pad and having an oil hole 33. A closure member 35 formed to slide over the raised portion 32 has a hole 30 for aligning with the hole 33 to allow admission of lubricant.
