[Class 64(ii)] A flexible band covering for pipes and valves of the kind provided along its longitudinal edges with flaps 2, 3 projecting from the plane of the band, is characterised in that every second flap 2 along one and the same edge extends in one plane and the remaining flaps 3 along said edge extend in another plane different from the first plane, which planes are parallel to the longitudinal direction of the band, and that the flaps 2 overlap the others 3 at least in the rolled position of the band to form a substantially closed wall, the flaps being connected with the band only along a tongue 4 which is narrow relative to the width of the flaps. The outer corners 7 of the flaps 2 and the corners 8 of the bent down edges 6 form stops which prevent complete separation of the flaps even when the band is straightened. An insulated steam pipe 9 is shown in Fig. 3 with the flanges protected by a cover 10 of the above described type. Insulation, e.g. glass-wool, may be attached directly to the band by welded-on sheet strips and steel wire. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 described (Fig. 4 Cancelled) a flexible band formed of strips 13, 17 of, for example, laminated wood, glued paper, artificial resin, e.g. melamine resinpolyvinyl chloride, etc., impregnated with acid-resisting filler, attached to a flexible layer 12 of fabric or paper.
