[Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XIII] A heat exchanger vessel comprises inner and outer cylindrical shells a, b. and an annalus c of channel section is fitted at each end to enclose the space between the shells, each annulus being spaced a short distance from the extremities of the shells and brazed so that the brazing metal joins the flanges of the annular channel to the cylindrical shells and fills the space beyond the web of the channel and between the extremities of the shells. The annulus may be of U or J-section.
