Abstract
603,897. Cleaners for pipe bowls. EISENRING, T. Nov. 3, 1945, No. 29243. Convention date, Jan. 15. [Class 130] An instrument for cleaning the bowls of tobacco pipes consists of a holding member formed of two plates 1 joined by a crosspiece 2 (Fig. 3), two scrapers 3 hinged to the holding member by means of rivets 4 passing through the slots 5 in the scrapers, and a handle 7 fixed to the holding member by means of the rivet 8 passing through the slot 9. The handle has shoulders 12 and a wedge shaped tip 10 so that on pushing the handle downwards the tip enters the tapered cut-out in the scrapers and pushes them apart to the working position of Fig. 4, i.e. until they fit the pipe bowl. Rotation of the handle then causes the scrapers to remove dirt from the inner surface of the bowl. The bottom parts of the scrapers may overlap (Fig. 7 shows the working position) to provide a continuous scraping edge.
