Abstract
603,663. Counting-apparatus. RAND, L. A., and INTERNATIONAL COIN COUNTING MACHINE CO., Ltd. Oct. 26, 1945, No. 28393. [Class 106 (i)] A machine for determining the total value of a batch of coins of mixed kinds comprises an inclined rotary upper plate 3 on which the batch is placed, the plate having holes 6 smaller than twice the diameter of the smallest coin so that the coins are picked up one at a time and then pass through a hole 10 in a fixed plate 5 into spaces between teeth 7 on a lower rotary plate 4. The coins while retained by the fixed plate 5 and a back plate 11 are pushed by the teeth 7 on the lower rotary plate 4 past a counter-actuating lever 9 to rock this lever an amount depending upon the diameter of the coin and finally the coins fall through a discharge aperture 18. The actuating lever 9 has a pin 12 which engages a cam 17 on a lever 13 carrying the counter-actuating ratchet 14. The machine can be adapted for a different system of coinage by changing the cam 17. The counting action is stopped when the total reaches a desired value by the engagement of a pin 22 on a disc 21 geared to the counter and operating a trip 24 to allow a member 25 to obstruct the aperture 10 in the fixed plate 5. The trip 24 is reset by a hand lever 26.
