Abstract
602,404. Bearings. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and RANDALL, C. E. Oct. 15, 1945, No. 26919. [Class 12 (i)] A bearing surface is formed by applying a thin layer of soft and ductile metal to a backing and then covering such layer by a coating of graphite. Thus a layer of copper, cadmium, zinc, lead, silver, or gold is electrodeposited on a deep etched backing so that the final surface is dull and thereafter a coating of graphite is applied by the surface being dipped into a colloidal suspension of graphite in acetone. The graphite is burnished in the direction in which the journal will rotate and the whole finally baked at 100-200‹ C. for not less than one hour.
