Abstract
601,489. Fusible cut-outs. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., BIGNELL, G. J. H., and GIBSON, J. W. Oct. 3, 1945, No. 25699. [Class 38 (i)] A cartridge fuse comprises an insulating body 1 having a longitudinal bore 2 fitted at each end with metallic end caps 3, the centres of which are cut away over the ends of the bore 2 to form one or more inwardly directed notched projections 4, 5 arranged to space a fuse element 6 and an indicator wire 8 away from the bore wall and to permit arcquenching filling material to surround the element. The ends of the bore may be closed by plugs of insulating material 10, shaped similarly to the cut-away part of the end caps. The cut-out may have more than one fuse wire, and the wire or wires are soldered in radial grooves in the end caps to which are soldered metallic end tags 11.
