Abstract
600,151. Seats. WILMOT-BREEDEN, Ltd., and SPICER, H. J. Sept. 28, 1945, No. 25259. [Class 52(ii)] An adjustable seat for a vehicle, comprises a sub-frame, of channel section members a, connected transversely having a main frame, also of channel section members c connected transversely, which is slidable at the front end on guide pieces d pivotally attached to the ends of the upturned members a<2> of the sub-frame, while links e pivotally connect the rear ends of the sub and main frames. Horizontal movement of the main frame relative to the subframe is effected by a screw f housed within a longitudinal member c of the main frame, and mounted in brackets g which act as bearings. Guide piece d is internally threaded to accommodate the screw f which when rotated is axially displaced with respect to the sub-frame. Member c forming the opposite side of the main frame carries, in place of the screw f, a rod which slides through a plain hole in a guide piece d. A tension spring i takes up any backlash in the mechanism. In a modification a second screw f is provided in the opposite main frame member c, the two screws being rotatably connected by means of sprocket wheels and a chain.
