Abstract

607,926. Hoeing and like machines. WARD, F., and WARD, W. July 1, 1946, No. 19678. Addition to 559,293. [Class 6(i)] Hoes or scufflers 27 are mounted on arms 12 pivoted to a transverse shaft 10 and pressed down by springs 16 on brackets 14, fixed to the shaft. The hoes of each pair are transversely and vertically adjustable. on bars 36, fixed to levers 37 pivoted to arms 12. The other end of each lever is bent twice to take a set-screw 42 bearing on the upper surface of the arms 12 whereby the tilt of the bars 36 and the tools may be adjusted. The tool-stems 26 are in two parts, the lower part 29 being pivoted to the upper, and set by means of a rotatable cam 31 projecting from the upper part 25 and engaging the forked upper end of the part 29. The wheels are mounted on spindles which may be slid in their mountings to adjust the width of the machine. A jack may be permanently attached to the lower side of the machine.
