Abstract
607,874. Driving reciprocating pumps. NATIONAL SUPPLY CORPORATION, and OIL WELL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Aug. 1, 1945, No. 19813. Convention date, Aug. 1, 1944. [Class 102(i)] In a pump drive arrangement two pumps 1, 2 are coupled with three engines 3, 4, 5 by means of sprocket and belt drives in cooperation with clutch means. A drive shaft 10 of the engine 5 is coupled with a counter-shaft 12 on to which is secured a sprocket 13 which is adapted to be releasably coupled by means of a friction clutch 14 with the shaft 12a. Upon the latter a pulley 15 is carried which is aligned with the pulley 16 of the pump 1. The driving shaft 18 of the engine 4 is coupled with a counter-shaft 20 upon which are mounted a pair of sprockets 21, 32 that are adapted to be releasably clutched to the shaft 20 by means of the jaw clutches 23, 24 respectively, the shaft 20 extends through a friction clutch 30 to couple with the driving shaft 31 of the pump 2. A low-speed drive is provided comprising the sprocket-wheels 32, 33, the latter wheel being provided with a friction clutch 34. By clutch selection, any engines may be utilized for driving either of the two pumps or the engines may be coupled to drive the pumps. Specification 603,641, [Group XXI], is referred to.
