Abstract

[Class 56] In order that sheets of tempered glass may be transformed into sheets having tempered portions separated from one another by partitions of detempered glass, whereby splintering on breaking is confined to particular portions, heat from high-frequency electric current is passed through the thickness of the glass in narrow slices. The shape of the electrodes may be such as to produce a rectangular gridlike series of lanes or partitions through the glass or honeycomb-like grids may be formed.
