Abstract
606,055. Switches, partly magnetic. WILSON, W. H., and CHINN, A. J. Jan. 9, 1946, No. 812. [Class 38 (v)] In a magnetic snap-action switch an operating member 22 bears on a resilient strip 24 which bears at 19 on a rigid contact lever 15 pivoted at its right-hand end and carrying two armatures 16 and 17 on opposite sides of a bar magnet 12. The armature 16 carries on its upper side a contact (not shown) engaging a co-operating contact until the accumulated tension in the strip 24 is sufficient to move the lever 15 down with a snap, the armature 17 moving into engagement with a stop (not shown). In this position, the armature 17 is still nearer the magnet than is the armature 16 so that the resultant magnetic force on the lever 15 is still upwards, enabling the parts to return to their original positions when the pressure of member 22 is removed. The lever 15 is mounted on a spring strip 18 which twists slightly as the lever moves.
