[Class 137] Air - conditioning apparatus rotatably mounted e.g. in a window opening between filler, elements 24 adjacent the window jambs comprises separate compartments housing respectively the evaporator 30 and condenser 32 with motor-compressor unit 34 of a refrigerator, a common motor 46 operating the fans of both elements. The cylindrical casing has four screened opening 52, 54, 56, 58, comprising pairs of inlet and outlet for air drawn over the condenser and evaporator and filters 64, 66, respectively, and by rotation of the casing room air can either be cooled or heated or fresh air cooled if required may be drawn in and room air expelled. Condensate collecting in pan 68 below the evaporator drains through a tube 70 to the bottom of the condenser compartment. A damper 74 may be opened when the room air is circulating through the condenser compartment, enabling a positive pressure to be maintained by introduction of fresh air into the air stream being heated. A modification includes a stationary ported outer casing, the arrangement of openings providing for the discharge of cooled air through a central portion of the area exposed to the room with an intake on each side. In the heating position a portion of the condenser is blocked off by the outer casing a higher temperature thus being reached. In another form, the evaporator compartment is located above the condenser compartment and the outlet from the former above the inlet, both occupying almost half the periphery of the casing.
