Abstract

596,627. Hinges. JOHNSON, M. M. July 31, 1945, No. 19602. Convention date, Aug. 4. 1944. [Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group XXI] Pivotal joints, one at each end of the foregrip 20 of a firearm (see Group XXI) each include a spring 34 and co-operating flat surfaces on the pivoted parts tending to hold the parts in any one of three adjusted positions. As shown in Fig. 5, the foregrip has screwed into it a plug 25 which is hollowed out to receive the spring 34 which acts on a rod 30 having a head 31. This head has a. sliding fit between bifurcated ends 26 of the plug and is bored to receive a pivot pin 32 which passed also through two legs of a yoke 17a carried by a plate 24. That part of the pin 32 adjacent the head 31 is of reduced cross-section. The plug is formed with an annular shoulder 27 and against this shoulder the flat surfaces of the end of the yoke are urged by the spring 34. A similar pivotal connection is provided between the foregrip and the legs of a yoke 17 of a radiator jacket 3 surrounding the gun barrel.
