Abstract

594,908. Resilient mountings. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and TROBRIDGE, G. W. June 25, 1945, No. 16101. [Class 108 (iii)] In a resilient device of the rubber compression type, a rubber compression element 3 is in surface contact with a metallic coiled spring, or springs 7, each of which has a loose guided relationship with a rigid guiding means 6 which is substantially co-extensive with the spring in its unstressed state. The supported member 5 shown in its unloaded position is slidable on a guide rod 6, maximum load deflection being limited by contact between adjacent convolutions of the spring 7. A lubricant such as a mixture of castor oil and graphite may be applied to the interior of the column. In a modification a plurality holes and associated springs 7 and rods 6 are employed and in a further construction a single spring 7 surrounds the column the guiding means being in the form of a cylindrical casing inside which the spring is a loose fit.
