Abstract

594,146. Yarn tensioning arrangements. SACOLOWELL SHOPS. Feb. 20, 1945, No. 4302. Convention date, Jan. 26, 1944. [Class 120 (ii)] A yarn tensioning device comprises a body part 10 provided with a tubular yarn guiding shank a and a lateral recess c in which a pressure plate 12 is fixed to form, with a further pressure plate 13 held against plate 12 by a wire spring 14, a yarn gripping means. The upper portion of the spring 14 extends along a groove in the shank a where it is held by an adjusting nut 15, adjustment of which lowers or increases the pressure of the spring on the plate 13. A fibrous insert 21, such as a coil of felt, may be placed in the neck of the shank in order to apply a slight drag on the yarn 9 running through and also to remove loose fibre before the yarn passes to the tension plates. The tensioning device is adapted to be held in the sleeve 4 of the package holder of a " 2 for 1 " twister.
