Abstract
589,886. Staircases. BRAYBROOK, V. W. March 8, 1945, No. 5753. [Class 20 (iv)] The treads and risers of a staircase are supported by beaver rails 11, 15 cwedged in holes in timber strings, the rails 11 securing the front of the treads 10 and the tops of the risers 14 and the rails 15 securing the rear of the treads and the bottom of the risers. In the form shown the risers are laminated and the top layer is continued around the rail 11. Various alternative sections for the front bearer rail are shown in the Specification. A number of treads, risers and bearer rails may be formed together into composite units or the treads may be formed integral with the rails 11, e.g., by moulding. The outer faces of the strings may be covered with plywood and the rails 15 may provide a fixing for a soffit 17. According to the Provisional Specification the strings may have recesses instead of holes.
