Abstract

584,165. Composite blocks. MALTHOUSE, E. G. Dec. 12, 1944, No. 24876. [Class 87 (i)] [Also in Group XXIII] A block 11, e.g., of concrete, has secured to one or more of its faces sheet cork 10 provided on its rear face with inclined or dovetail keying grooves 12. The block, which may be cast on to the cork facing layers, may comprise layers 27, 29 of cement and sand separated by a layer 28 of porous concrete. It may be provided with metal reinforcement extending into the keying grooves and/or made hollow by embedding therein hollow clay or concrete blocks. The keying grooves are cut by a circular saw-like or milling cutter having its teeth tipped with tungsten carbide. According to the Provisional Specification, cork sheets may be secured to walls or floors.
