Abstract

573,821. Girder floors. GIBSON, E., and FIDLER, W. June 8, 1943, No. 9169. [Class 20 (iv)] Relates to floor or ceiling constructions of the kind comprising a number of beams laid side by side to form a continuous surface, each beam having a load carrying part 1, Fig. 1, and lateral flanges 2-5 which are discontinued at the ends of the beams where they rest on a support. According to the invention adjacent ends 10 of the beams a, b supported on a common support c and extending in opposite directions are arranged in alternate relation with each beam bearing on the support for the full or substantially the full width thereof. The beam shown in section is hollow and its part 1 is approximately half as wide as the total width of the beam. Longitudinal reinforcing rods 11, 12, 14 and 15, and embracing rods 13, and cross bars 16, are arranged in the beam as shown.
