Abstract

573,009. Electrically-heated hair-waving apparatus. FOX, P. X. Sept. 3, 1943, No. 14420. [Class 39 (iii)] An electrically-heated hair curler comprises a copper tube 10, mounted on an insulating handle 11, and containing a single wire heating element 12 fixed at one end of the tube and surrounded by a ceramic sleeve 13. The heater is supplied from the secondary 22 of a transformer, at about 4-5 volts. The primary 21 is in series with a circuit breaker 30 actuated by a bimetallic strip 31 subject to a heater 32 in the secondary circuit whereby the circuit is opened after a predetermined time interval, and the temperature of the curler is kept within predetermined limits.
