572,176. Glass. CASSELLE, L. C. Sept. 11, 1943, No. 14942. [Class 56] [Also in Group VI] The neck a of a glass ampoule b is provided,. to facilitate breakage, with an enlargement having two substantially abutting internal surfaces e and d, extending transversely of the neck, but contacting only along their periphery. The enlargement which may be of thinner glass, may be formed by compressing and collapsing- a bulb blown on the neck, or by welding together the peripheral edges of outwardly-directed flanges formed on the neck and a length of glass tube. The Provisional Specification discloses the fusion of the abutting flanges in the latter case.
