570,671. Pipe and rod couplings. STEWARTS & LLOYDS, Ltd., and McMINN, E. Aug. 14, 1943, No. 13230. [Class 99 (i)] A spigot and socket or sleeve coupling for rods or tubes comprises a split, resilient ring 15 occupying aligned annular grooves 12, 13 in the.spigot 11 and socket 10, the out-turned ends 16 of the ring engaging a slot 14 in the socket so that the ring can be expanded by a tool 19 to occupy the.socket groove only for uncoupling. The tube or spigot may have a bevelled end so that coupling may be effected without using the tool.
