Abstract
579,876. Wave guides. CALLENDER'S CABLE & CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., and HOLLINGSWORTH, D. T. June 20, 1944, No. 11744. [Class 40 (v)] A flexible wave guide is made by winding a layer 5 of rubber tape on a rectangular wire mesh tube 1. Ribs 6 of rigid material such as metal, wood or fibre and having a circular periphery are placed on in two parts and held temporarily by binding wires. Soft rubber is then wound on to fill the spaces between the ribs and finally to cover the ribs and fill up to the level of end flanges 9. The whole assembly is then vulcanized. Each end of the mesh tube 1 is attached by a metal tube 2 to a union 3, or 4 for connection to other guide sections or apparatus.
