[Classes 21, 66 and 125 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] In a liquid container formed of flexible impervious material and adapted to collapse as the contents are discharged and to be rolled or folded when empty, one or more pressure relief valves are provided on the top thereof and are adapted to maintain the internal pressure at a magnitude not substantially exceeding that necessary to support the valve or valves above the liquid level. As shown, the container comprises cells 1a ... 1e of flexible material secured together side by side, those walls which are secured together being apertured and also cut away at the corners, and the joints and edges being reinforced by strips 5, 6. Wood &c. stiffeners 7 are held to the bottom by strips 8, and end stiffeners 9 are removably held in pockets 10. On opposite sides of the top are provided relief valves 13, 13a, each comprising a base plate 14, Fig. 4, a seat 20 and a valve plate 24 loosely carried by an arm 23 pivoted to a bracket 21 and lightly loaded by a weight 30 ; during transport &c. additional loading may be provided by a pivoted rod 32 surrounded by a spring 33. The container may be filled through the pipe 12 by means of a funnel 35, Fig. 5, carried by a tripod 34. Each valve 13, 13a may be surrounded by a flexible bucket-like member 36, Fig. 6, with a flap 37 adapted to be folded over to prevent access of water. Specification 562,388 is referred to.
