Abstract

578,826. Sawing-machines. ARMSTRONG, J. W. C.. PALFI, J., and DANIELS, Ltd., T. H. & J. July 26, 1944, No. 14268. [Class 145 (ii)] The guide bar 1 of a horizontal chain saw comprises a pair of thin metal plates 6 secured to an intermediate plate 7 of a plastic material such as resin-impregnated fabric or resin-impregnated paper sheets. Thin steel bearing strips 9 are secured to the edges of the plate 7 by engaging their inturned ends 10 in. slots 11 in the plate. The outer chain guide may be a roller or sprocket 5 or a disc of plastic material secured between the plates 6 and having a strip of hard steel secured on its periphery. Specifications 568,988, 578,824 and 578,825 are referred to.
